He was a true friend and mentor to his students and always had the ability to impact the student body with kindness and compassion.
Strong educational leadership is critical to the success of teachers, students, and the school as a whole. You may be asking, what does educational leadership mean? A web search will yield many different meanings. However, these definitions have one common thread binding them together, providing the tools to help educators perform their best, so students can excel. Helping their students excel is exactly what Conrad and Rivard strived to do day-after-day. As strong leaders inside and outside the classroom, their influence was felt by their students, their players, and the entire community.
The Conrad-River Scholarship will be awarded to an Oliver Ames High School graduating senior. Special consideration will be given to those pursuing an Education Degree and/or students involved in athletics. The student should be seeking higher education at a 2- or 4-year institution.
To apply for this Scholarship, please provide an essay to introduce yourself and explain how you feel a Principal, Assistant Principal or any Oliver Ames Faculty Member impacted your life, positively impacted your education goals, or guided you on a pathway for your future.

Oliver Ames Graduate of 1982
The James R. Sorenson EDD Scholarship is in honor of the former Oliver Ames High School Psychologist, who has specialized in individual and family counseling for over two decades.
